The City of San Antonio, Department of Human Services, is accepting applications for the 2017 Ambassador Summer Internship Program.
The Ambassador Summer Internship Program encourages college students to return or stay in San Antonio upon graduation by connecting them to professional opportunities and innovative career paths through paid internships, peer-to-peer networking sessions, and community service projects. The program starts May 22 and ends August 4.
To be eligible, students must be a San Antonio high school graduate or attend a university in San Antonio, be a permanent resident of San Antonio, obtain at least a 2.5 grade point average, complete at least one full year (two semesters) of college, and be currently enrolled.
Interested applicants must submit a completed application by March 15 at 4 p.m. Applications can be found online on the Department of Human Services website or by visiting http://bit.ly/DHSAmbassador2017.
Last year, 122 students participated in the program, representing a variety of local, state and national colleges and universities, including St. Mary’s University, Texas A&M University, Cornell University, Columbia University, and University of Pennsylvania.
Participating employers represented the engineering, communications, local government, science, and health fields. Employer partners included Bergstrom Inc., American Red Cross, City of San Antonio, Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, Univision Inc., KLRN Public Television, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
