SPURS BEAT

March 1, 2017

The Spurs completed their 8 game Rodeo road trip with a 6 – 2 record.  Winding down its annual trip on the West Coast, the team beat both Los Angeles teams, besting the Clippers 105 – 97 and the Lakers 119 – 98.  With Pau Gasol’s return from injury and Kawhi Leonard playing through foul trouble, the Spurs were able to defeat the Clippers, a team they have struggled with in the past.  The Clippers with Chris Paul back in the lineup after missing 5 weeks held a six point lead early in the game before the Spurs and its bench took over.  Both LaMarcus Aldridge and Gasol finished with double-doubles while Dewayne Dedmon getting the starting nod once again finished with 4 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lakers’ game didn’t appear to pose much of a threat against the division leading Spurs as Leonard scored 16 points in the first quarter finishing with 25.  Gasol playing his second game off the bench scored 15 points.

Notes:  Spurs are riding a 4 game win streak and continue to hold on to second place in the Western Conference, four games behind the Golden State Warriors.
