The third round of the NBA playoffs is in full swing with the Spurs trailing the Golden State Warriors one game to zero. This comes on the heels of the Spurs eliminating the Rockets in game 6. Kawhi Leonard did not play in the close out game but the Spurs were able to annihilate the Rockets by 39 points. It was a total effort. The Spurs will have to do the same if they want to remain in the series against the Warriors.
Leonard returned to the lineup in game one with the Spurs leading by 20 by halftime, only to have him reinjure the same ankle, not once but twice in the second half. With their leader off to the locker room, the Warriors were able to stage a dramatic comeback with an 18 – 0 run in the third quarter to close the gap.
LaMarcus Aldridge continued his awesome play from the last game of the Rockets series to the 1st half of this series. He finished the game with 28 points but was not a big factor in the closing moments. Leonard had scored 26 points before leaving while Manu Ginobilli has been solid lately, scoring 17 points.
Patty Mills struggled with his offense and the Spurs couldn’t rebound late in the game. Curry and Durant had fantastic 3rd and 4th quarters, respectively.
Hopefully the Spurs can bounce back from a game that they had well in hand.
Notes: Leonard had an MRI on Monday and will be kept out of game 2.
