Update on volunteer and donation opportunities, resources for evacuees

 

Evacuations

200 Gembler Road continues to be the reception center for every evacuee, regardless of their mode of transportation.

 

Evacuation numbers:

  • 1,271 evacuees processed to-date

  • Currently 948 evacuees in two active general population shelters

  • Approx. 700 medical patients coordinated through San Antonio

 

South Texas Blood and Tissue Center

In response to the critical need for blood throughout south and southeast Texas, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center has extended hours at all its San Antonio-area donor rooms. All San Antonio donor rooms will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., effective Monday, Aug. 28. STBTC donor rooms with extended hours:

  • Donor Pavilion, 6211 Interstate 10 West at First Park Ten Boulevard

  • Northeast Donor Room, 8527 Village Drive, Suite 106

  • Shavano Donor Room, 4079 N. Loop 1604 West, Suite 102

  • Southeast Donor Room, 3158 SE Military Drive, Suite 104

  • Westover Hills Donor Room, 10555 Culebra Road, Suite 107

 

Current blood supplies remain at less than one day’s demand. To become a donor, please call 210-731-5590 or visit southtexasblood.org for more information.

 

American Red Cross

 

The American Red Cross is providing shelter, meals and comfort to people impacted by the hurricane and flooding. Help those affected by Hurricane Harvey by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or texting the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
