SAISD WELCOMES STUDENTS DISPLACED BY HURRICANE HARVEY
Families who have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey and are residing in San Antonio may enroll their children in San Antonio ISD. The District is ready to welcome students – whether staying with family and friends, or in shelters or hotels.
Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 1987, parents can enroll their children in the public schools of the area they take refuge.
Simplified enrollment process
Our schools will accommodate the special circumstances of these families impacted by the storm, providing flexibility during enrollment and our full support as the children settle into the classroom.
Families will not have to worry about providing typical documentation needed at registration time such as immunization records, academic records or birth certificates. These documents will be reviewed at a later time.
A registration team from the District will visit the designated shelter to assist families in enrolling their children in SAISD schools:
Families have one department to contact for all of their questions about SAISD schools and enrollment: Office of Access and Enrollment Services – Phone: (210) 554-2660; Text: (210) 309-3259; Email: email@example.com; Web: www.saisd.net/enroll
Support and resources
Our goal is to ensure students receive an education and have as much of a normal school experience as possible in their time of crisis. SAISD will do all it can to ensure student needs are met and that there will be minimal lapses in their school year.
Incoming students will be provided:
