Spurs Beat

November 1, 2017

The San Antonio Spurs began Week 2 of the regular season with a 3-0 record and the trend continued when they faced a familiar foe in the Miami Heat. LaMarcus Aldridge continued his early season hot start tallying 31 points and 7 rebounds. A strong effort was also shown by marquee free-agent signee Rudy Gay whose presence is already being felt in the absence of Kawhi Leonard.

Kyle Anderson continues making huge strides since being inserted into the starting line-up this year posting a double-double against Miami scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

After starting the season 4-0 the Spurs hit a road block Friday in Orlando managing to score only an abysmal thirty-four first half points. The spurs fell behind early by as many as 36 points and were never ever to recover. The Spurs were led again by LaMarcus Aldridge who posted another double-double but the bench was unable to contribute offensively. The Spurs woes continued Sunday evening in Indiana as they fell by 3 points at the hands of Heat guard Victor Oladipo. LaMarcus Aldridge has led the Spurs in scoring every game thus far and the contributions from the Spurs supporting cast is starting to dwindle.

The Spurs concluded their four game road trip in Boston led by newly acquired Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately, the Spurs weren’t able to close out the road trip with a win as they dropped their third straight with a final score of 108-94. The Spurs were able to put their depth to the test in the back to back which saw players like Bryn Forbes and Brandon Paul contribute. Brandon Paul led all Spurs players in points (18) and Pau Gasol led the Spurs in rebounds (8). Fortunately, for the Spurs they begin a six game homestand against the defending NBA Champions Thursday @ 700.

Notes:

Spurs PG Tony Parker has been assigned to the G-League as part of rehabilitation as they are in training camp here in San Antonio. Kawhi Leonard is said to return in early November.
