SAN ANTONIO – (Nov. 19, 2017) San Antonio Rising Star, Inc.,WORLD Lolei Enterprise, and Prince Hall Affiliates partnered with Anne Marie Catering to present the 1st Annual Thanksgiving Youth Empowerment Dinner held at Devonshire Place.
The event began with the hosts welcoming guests on the red carpet followed by guest speakers, dinner, and a traditional “Soul Train Line”.
The event serviced 300 children, family members and the elderly from throughout the city with free transportation services for those from the city’s eastside community.
“This event was planned to help and assist our communities’ youth by showing them that it is more to life than what's being portrayed in their environment every day,” said Charles Sattiewhite, SA Rising Star president.
According to Milas Williams, president of WORLD Lolei, the dinner provided the youth an illustrated lesson on formal table settings, etiquette, and family style dinning.
“Thanks to all sponsors and supporters,” said Williams. “Without their support, the event could not have been possible.”
According to Mozella Wilson, a mother of six, she received word about the dinner from her pastor.
“He thought it would be a good idea to have myself and my children attend and be part of something elegant,” said Wilson, who is originally from Newark, N.J. “The event was so nice and the welcome on the red carpet was outstanding. It was good to see our young people be a part of something great.”
