The San Antonio Spurs returned home after going one and one on its last road trip. The team lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in a close contest only to come up short 120 – 122. DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points in the loss. Six players scored in double digits but the team could not overcome Sixers big man Joel Embid’s 33 points 19 rebound performance. The road game in New Orleans saw the Spurs turn a close first half game to a more aggressive performance in the second half as LaMarcus Aldridge and Rudy Gay both posted double doubles. Pelican big man Anthony Davis did not play.
Returning to the AT&T center for a four game home stand started on a positive note as the Spurs took on the Washington Wizards defeating them 132 – 119. Aldridge led the charge with 30 points followed by Davis Bertans’ 21 points. Five other Spurs also scored in double figures.
Notes: Guard Patty Mills played in his 500th game as a Spur against the Wizards. DeRozan sat out games against New Orleans and Washington with knee soreness.
