Comerica Bank Rewards San Antonio Students with Seed Money to Open First Savings Account Through its Gift of Knowledge Incentive Program
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Comerica Bank recognized 20 students from Ella Austin Community Center’s At-Risk Youth Behavior Prevention Program for successfully completing the Comerica Money $ense program, an interactive, financial education tool that equips students with critical money management skills. Each student was given $25 of seed money to open his/her first savings account at Comerica on Feb. 9.
“The Gift of Knowledge is the gift that keeps on giving,” said Irvin Ashford Jr., Comerica Bank Senior Vice President, External Affairs and National Financial Education Director. “It rewards students’ accomplishments, but it also reinforces that the knowledge gained has a direct impact on their financial well-being.”

The After School & Summer Enrichment Program provides quality out-of-school time for youth ages 6-14, in the zip codes of 78202, 78208, & 78203. The program ensures children on the Eastside, grades K-8, are being promoted by grade and graduation, are safe, and socially and emotionally supported in school and life. All students participate in High Quality Out of School Time programming at no cost to their families.
The goal of the At-Risk Youth Behavior Prevention Program includes the following: truancy reduction, disciplinary referral reduction, homework support, school readiness, leadership & empowerment, conflict management, pregnancy prevention, substance abuse prevention, and youth crime recidivism.
