SPURS BEAT

March 6, 2019

After a disastrous road trip the Spurs returned to the AT&T Center to complete a mini home stand sweep…picking up key wins against Detroit (105 – 93), Oklahoma City (116 – 102) and a close one against Denver (104 – 103). Playing as if their playoff lives depended on getting much needed victories, the team appeared to find what’s been missing, aka defense and
offense.

The Spurs played great defense against both Detroit and OKC, who played without
guard Paul George. Against the Nuggets though, the Spurs had to ward off a furious Denver comeback after being up by as many as 18 points. The Spurs were able to stop them defensively in the waning moments of the game. DeRozan led the way with 24 points followed by LaMarcus Aldridge with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Rudy Gay has been impressive off the bench in the last two games averaging 18 points and nine rebounds.

Note: The Spurs bought out center Pau Gasol’s contract sending him to the Milwaukee Bucks.
