SPURS BEAT

April 24, 2019

The San Antonio Spurs stand at 2 – 2 with the Denver Nuggets, so the series boil down to a best of three.  The Spurs were able to take the first game of their two game home stand, but unfortunately lost the second game 117 – 103.  The series appears to be one of the more tightly contested in round one with each team making critical adjustments after a loss.  Let’s hope that the Spurs are making the needed adjustments for game 5 after letting their guard down in game 4.  Derrick White after scoring a career high 36 points in game three could not muster more than 8 points in game four, therefore the Nuggets made adjustments to basically shut him down.  But according to Coach Popovich, the Spurs were not aggressive at all on the offensive end.

Other than Patty Mills having a late surge with 12 points the bench was shut down in game 4.  Spurs playing better defense, being more aggressive, and great play from their bench will be keys to winning game five on the road, in addition to controlling their emotions.  DeMar DeRozan was tossed in the fourth quarter and fined $25,000 by the NBA for tossing the ball toward a referee.
