ST. PHILIP’S COLLEGE 2019 SUMMER CAMP LINEUP BEGINS IN JUNE, ENROLLMENT SEASON UNDERWAY

 

SAN ANTONIO (May 20, 2019)–––The St. Philip's College offerings of summer camps for all ages and abilities at the college's 1801 Martin Luther King Drive and 800 Quintana Road locations are weeks from opening day, but enrollment season is underway.

 

 

Camp dates, hours and content have each been carefully finalized to optimize visitor and family access to the best in continuous free or low-cost summer learning during the summer out of school months of June, July and August.

  • June 10–11 | Camp 98.6 | Cost-free week of health professions study at St. Philip's College and University Health System | Email rfarias53@alamo.edu for details

  • June 10–July 18 (Mondays–Thursdays) | Motivating and Engaging with STEM Activities (MESA) | An opportunity for high school students to improve their math skills using “ALEKS”, a personalized small group computer-aided instruction. In addition, fun STEM hands-on activities with the importance of MATHematics involved. MESA is a six week summer enrichment program. Topics covered: ALEKS, Science, Engineering and Computer Program.   • June 10–Aug. 2 | Student Leadership and Academic Movement (SLAM) | For Eastside Promise Zone residents, STEM project-based learning for ages 11-15 | Contact Ella Austin Community Center Director of Youth Development Dominic Dominguez at (210) 224-2351 Ext. 129 to learn more.

 

  • June 21–Aug. 12 | Kid’s Academy with Microsociety | 10 weeks of fun and educational programs for ages 4-13 | Find details online

 

  • July 8–25 | Science and Math Summer Academy (SAMSA) | Three weeks of STEM project based learning, field trips and guest speakers for ages 11-15 | Applications are being currently being accepted. Notifications of acceptance began May 15 and occur every two weeks thereafter until the program is full.

 

  • July 29–Aug. 2 | Robotics Summer Program | Design, construction and programming of Lego EV3 robots for middle school youth - Apply before July 7 | Find details at http://www.alamo.edu/spc
