New hospital construction brings MEGA opportunities for local businesses Judge Wolff to announces how contractors can get involved
A new 12-story Women’s & Children’s hospital, set to break-ground at University Hospital this fall, provides local contractors outstanding opportunities to earn business and gain experience in the construction of a state-of-the-art medical facility.
Joeris + JEDunn, a joint venture, is the construction manager for the new facility, which is expected to open in late 2022 to serve the unique health needs of women, babies and children, and to meet the needs of our growing community and South Texas region well into the future.
The Women’s & Children’s hospital construction budget of roughly $500 million is being funded with no tax increase. As the public hospital district for Bexar County, and the only locally headquartered health system in San Antonio, University Health System is committed to the community and will ensure that as much of the work as possible is awarded to local businesses and construction subcontractors – especially local small, minority, women, and veteran business enterprises (SMWVBE).
Anyone hoping to work on the new hospital or other ongoing construction projects at University Health System is welcome to attend a free informational meeting this weekend. The MEGA Diversity & Inclusion Contractor Event will be Saturday, June 29, from 9 – 11 a.m. at St. Philip’s College.
