Psalms 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”.
The Bible Says was originally birthed from Maggie E. Nance, grand-mother. For years, her column was printed weekly in the SNAP and San Antonio Register. Her words of encouragement inspired many throughout the San Antonio community. My grandmother has graciously passed the torch and I Tracye E. Nance-Byrd; grand-daughter will be continuing writing this column in her place. It is an honor to be chosen to carry out this vision. I believe wholeheartedly in the power that lies in the Word of God. I pray that the people of God are continually blessed as they were in times past and I am confident in this one thing that he that has started a good work in me will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
The Bible Says:
“Psalms 51:10 – Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me”.
David wrote this Psalms after the prophet Nathan rebuked him of his sin with Bathsheba. When we sin we ask God for forgiveness, to have mercy on us and w in turn repent for our sin. Out of relationship, we know the heart of God knowing that an acceptable sacrifice is a broken spirit; a broken and repentant heart. Broken in the sense that man is not able to correct, but God can create. Creation of a new heart is conceived by the power of God; correction of a new heart demonstrates the manipulation of the flesh to deceive man into thinking that behavior modification puts him in right standing with God. We are only new creatures through Christ Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, thank you for creating a new heart within your people. We trust in the power of the Holy Spirit and we know that you are able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ever imagine or think. You are God and God alone. Thank you for these your people. You are a generational God and you have never left your people stranded or in need. Your word says for us to be strong and courageous, don’t be afraid or terrified, that you will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6); so we thank you for being with us in this journey. Your word is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path (Psalms 119:105). So open the eyes, mind and ears of every reader so that they may see you in all of your glory and splendor; in Jesus name, Amen.
