The doors of a building believed to be home to true phantoms will be unbolted tonight for the 13th Floor Haunter House's season-opener.
This year, the specter spectacular located at 1203 East Commerce St. will be prepared to unnerve guests with new attractions like "Slaughterhouse" and "Feral Moon," according to a news release.
The company previewed the two additions in the release.
"Vicious" clowns took control of a slaughterhouse they dubbed "Laughterhouse," but guests are "more likely to cry than laugh," in the Slaughterhouse attraction. If that's not enough to make you cower behind the stranger ahead of you, when visitors trek through Feral Moon, they will land in an old cemetery lit by a full moon and inhabited by "monstrous wolves" that can smell fear, the release said.
If you haven't had the living daylights scared out of you during one of the 13th Floor's seven years in the city, the company considers it to be the city's most well-known haunted houses where "nationally recognized" designers have created a suspense-filled atmosphere for what they say is an unparalleled experience.
Tom Scheer, general manager of the local 13th Floor, said the company appreciates the city's business over their past seven years in San Antonio and will continue to exceed expectations.
"We're ready to give you a scare that will make you want to jump out of your skin, yet enjoy the fun at the same time," he added. "Of course, it helps that the building is actually haunted."
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the season runs until Halloween, Oct. 31. General admission tickets can be purchased online starting at $24.99.
