Hopefully life without Tim Duncan will not be as difficult as it appeared last Friday night in a home game against the Miami Heat. Turnovers, lack of being aggressive on both ends of the court, and poor passing resulted in a 100 – 108 loss to the Heat. This was the Spurs second loss on the preseason schedule. Having nineteen turnovers did not help the Spurs cause. Although the Spurs had several players in double figures for the game, led by Kawhi Leonard’s 11 points, they shot 44% from the field shooting a mere 26% from three point range (5 of 19).
Leonard was 1 of 9 shooting and had a team high five turnovers. A bright spot for the team may have been the play of Center Dewayne Dedmon who also had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks along with Power forward Davis Bertans who came off the bench to score seven points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and one block. Let’s hope that as the season progresses, these two will be able to somewhat fill the void left by Duncan.
Note: LaMarcus Aldridge did not play in the game against the Heat as he was inducted into the University Of Texas Hall Of Honor.
