SAPD: 5-year-old girl found tied up, abandoned behind East Side Burger King

November 30, 2016

SAN ANTONIO — Police are reuniting a 5-year-old girl with her father after she was found abandoned and tied up behind a Burger King on Rigsby and South WW White Road early Friday morning.

SAPD Sergeant Patrick Day said officers received a call around 2:30 a.m. from a woman who said she found a child tied up behind a Burger King.

Police investigated at the scene and at a Walgreens across the street from the Burger King and said while the child had marks on her wrists consistent with being tied up, she was "fine."

Day said police are taking the girl to her father who is separated from the girl's mother.

Additionally, the father said the girl was in her mother's care at the time of the incident.

Day said it is up to detectives to pursue charges against the individual who abandoned her.

While authorities said they had not located the girl's mother at 1 p.m., they would not say if she was being considered a suspect in the case.
