The San Antonio Spurs had a pretty typical week after demolishing the defending NBA champs last week. In a preview of what could be a showdown between the Spurs and the Golden State Warriors in the Western conference finals, the Spurs began the game with an outstanding first quarter.
They led by double digits before the Warriors mounted a huge comeback to take the game 110 – 98. The Spurs went on to beat a tough Oklahoma City team on the road after trailing by as many as 21 points late in the game by showcasing its own MVP in Kawhi Leonard who scored a team high 28 points.
The Spurs then returned home to face a much improved Utah team, who lead the Northwest division, and win 109 -103. Again the team was led in scoring by Leonard followed by Tony Parker’s 21 points.
Note: The Spurs played many of the younger players in the game against Utah while resting many of its veterans.
