The playoffs have begun and the Spurs wasted little time in proving their playoff might in beating the Memphis Grizzlies 111 - 82 in game one. Kawhi Leonard continued to show why he should be in the running for MVP with an array of jumpers and dunks. He led the team with 32 points followed by LaMarcus Aldridge’s’ 20 points. But the surprise came from Tony Parker as the veteran point guard scored 18 points in the big win. Danny Green showed why he is a key cog in the Spurs system not because of his scoring ability but for his defense especially on Memphis point guard Mike Conley.
Conley was held to 13 points as he was hounded by several defenders throughout the game. Green also had 4 huge blocks. Mark Gasol led the Grizzlies with 32 points, with most of them coming in the first half when the Grizzlies built a double digit lead. The Spurs continued their strong play in game two winning this one 96 – 82 as they led most of the way. Leonard again led the team with a post season career high 37 points and 11 rebounds. Again Parker was able to hold his own in scoring 15 points. Spurs had three others score double digits including Danny Green with 12.
Note: Leonard was 19 -19 in free throw shooting in game 2. San Antonio leads the series 2 – 0.
