Letter from the Editor

The heat has definitely arrived! I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day as we took the time to honor our Fallen Heroes.  It turned out to be a beautiful day, one that I hope all enjoyed and remembered why we are able to.  As an Army Veteran myself, I pay the upmost respect to my fallen brothers and sisters that I served along side with.  It was an honor to have served alongside of you and your legacy will always be in my heart. Thank you for your sacrifices- you are loved and remembered always!

We are days away from school being out and I encourage all of you (grandparent, friend, co-worker) families to pass the word around about so many resources of educational, physical, and fun activities that are available for our kids this summer.  We have some here in the paper and more online at our website www.saobserver.com.  Be sure to check it out and let everyone know who may be searching for the right program for their children this summer break.

With the election of our Mayor and City Council Just around the corner (early voting started yesterday with Election Day on June 10th) please stay informed of the facts whether positive or negative- just follow the facts.  If you are interested in making an unbiased vote (meaning off facts only) maybe a way to look at it is:

- What candidate represents your concerns and morals?

- What candidate does not represent your concerns and morals?

**Choose issues that are important to you

Write down each concern you have and place it under the candidate, in each race, that shares that concern with you and has the moral character (in your eyes) to get it done!  We've heard from both candidates in many different forums and you may have been following their whole campaign run to where you get a really good feel for who is running and their character.

Character gets the job done- if you see that a candidate does not align nor possess certain characteristics that you believe will help your concerns for D2 that may be your elimination point while showing the logical choice for you and your families concerns for D2.  Some very important qualities of character that will get the job done are below:

The Six Pillars of Character.

The Six Pillars of Character is a framework for teaching good character and is composed of six ethical values (characteristics) everyone can agree upon:

Trustworthiness; Respect; Responsibility; Fairness; Caring; and Citizenship.

Character Counts!

Vote Responsibly!
