Community event planned to kick off new campaign in the heart of San Antonio.
VIA Metropolitan Transit will kick off a new year of VIVA service Thursday, July 13, at Alamo Plaza. Just in time for summer and the upcoming Tricentennial Celebration, VIA will debut a new campaign to encourage residents and visitors to join the more than 30,000 monthly passengers who are already enjoying the service and “Let’s VIVA! Explore the Heart of San Antonio.”
VIVA was launched in summer 2016, with new service that connects passengers to popular destinations, including the River Walk and Alamo—the top two most-visited sites in Texas. VIVA provides daily, frequent service throughout San Antonio’s cultural corridors, including Blue Star to Broadway, Centro Plaza to Sunset Station, and Downtown to the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site.
WHEN: 10 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2017
WHERE: Alamo Plaza, 300 Alamo Plaza
More than 34 million visitors arrive in San Antonio each year, making hospitality and tourism a major industry in the region that employs over 130,000 people and attracts thousands of local visitors to the city center daily. VIVA culture (11), VIVA missions (40), and VIVA centro (301) connect employees, residents, and visitors in the area with hotels and restaurants, museums, parks, theaters, the zoo, San Antonio Missions World Heritage sites, and various Downtown locations. Regular and reduced fares apply. The best value is an unlimited VIA Day Pass for $2.75.
