Letter from the Editor

It's been a hard week.  We tragically lost little Earl Whitley as you just read.  My prayers to his family and friends- may God hold onto you tight as you go through what no one should ever have to go through.  And we saw the horrific human trafficking scene where victims are still recovering while some could not make it through the heat of that trailer.  Who does this? Criminals.

So many resources on the Eastside, so many people working in front and behind the scenes for the betterment of this community.  And on the other hand we have the opposite people working against our community and not even offering a helping hand or kind gesture to anyone.  Those 'opposite' people who live here shooting up our streets, our KIDS, putting people in fear in the comfort of their own home - leave.

Violence, Gangs are not the answer and we won't tolerate it anymore.  It may take a while, it may take partnerships with different people offering different help but we will get there and faster then ever now.  We can't do it alone either we need help.  If you have an organization or a resource you would like to offer to the cause of reaching those with no hope who turn to gangs for love, hope or acceptance please let us know by emailing us at contact@saobserver.com.  Even if you just email in an idea, a suggestion, an opinion- it is most welcomed.  If we work to reach these youth now we can circumvent so much to prevent this disgraceful violence.

RIH Earl, we are ALL IN and your legacy will live on in all the hearts of the people.  We feel a horrific loss and that only can lead to Earl's life through his legacy.
