This weekend, Joel Rupard competed at the State level on his Tuba.  Joel is a Senior at Sam Houston High School.  He started his journey to State in  November where he was awarded 1st Chair in the Region Band.  In January, he traveled to Corpus Christi, TX, where he was in competition at the Area level. Once again, he was awarded 1st Chair on his Tuba.  This past Wednesday, February 14, 2018, Joel was in competition at the State level. On this national day of love, Joel accomplished 1st Chair in the Texas All State Band.  With this 1st Chair placement in the All State Band, Joel has worked to be named the "Number One 5A Tuba Player in the entire State of Texas."

On Saturday, February 17, Joel performed with the All State Band at the Texas Music

Educators Conference. This is the second time in seven years that a student from Sam Houston has made the All State Symphonic Band level.  Joel is the first student from Sam Houston, in seven years,  to make 1st Chair. Congratulations to Joel Rupard and his Band Directors Bruce Adams and Tryphena Hughes.
