The Rodeo road trip is over and unlike previous years the Spurs did not fare well. The team is 2 – 8 in the month of February with one game remaining (vs. New Orleans). The losses include a four game losing streak with two of the losses coming at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. Doubt may have begun to seep in on the direction the team is going sincethere were no moves made at the trade deadline. With everything in place including Leonard still on the shelf and a rested team after the All Star break, the Spurs took on the 3-time Eastern Conference champions Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers did not miss the trade deadline as they sent away six players and received four new faces. With a more youthful and athletic team in place the Cavs were predicted head in the right direction to remain King of the East.
The Spurs on Sunday in a nationally televised game had other ideas. Led by LaMarcus Aldridge’s 27 points the Spurs came away with a 110 – 94 victory on the last leg of the rodeo road trip. The Spurs placed seven players in double figures with Danny Green getting 22 points.
Notes: The Spurs remain in 3rd place in the Western conference with a 36 - 25 record.
