The Spurs have put themselves back into playoff contention with a four game win streak. Last week the team was looking at a dismal 10th place standing before returning home for a six game homestand. The Spurs have responded with wins over Orlando (108 – 72), New Orleans (98 – 93), Minnesota (117 – 101), and a recent victory over defending champions Golden State Warriors (89 – 75).
Although the Warriors played without three of their All-stars, the Spurs still played with a sense of urgency as they have climbed back into a tight playoff race. Sitting a number 5 the Spurs hope to continue the ride. LaMarcus Aldridge has led the charge as he has posted double doubles in the last two wins ( 39 pts/10 rebounds against Minnesota and 33 pts./12 rebounds against Golden State). Kawhi Leonard, who continues to wait on clearances, was not at the Warriors game.
Notes: DeJounte Murray set a franchise record for rebounds by a point guard in collecting 385 thus far this season. Johnny Moore held the previous record of 378.
