The San Antonio Spurs, after being outplayed by the Indiana Pacers last week, have come back to win games against the Los Angeles Lakers and their IH 35 rivals Dallas Mavericks. The Laker win come on the heels of their high scoring road win in Los Angeles last Monday (143-142). The return home didn’t produce the outcome the team sought as they were pummeled by the Indiana Pacers in a losing cause 116 – 96 on Wednesday. After regrouping and playing in front of its home crowd on Saturday, the Spurs took on the L.A. Lakers a second time in as many days to bring home a 110 – 106 win.
DeMar DeRozan put up 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Rudy Gay and Pau Gasol also put up double-double figures to secure the win. DeRozan also led the team in assists with eight. LeBron James scored 35 points to surpass Dirk Nowitzki on the all time scoring lists. With the win Coach Gregg Popovich joined the 1200 win club. On Monday, the Spursoutscored the Dallas Mavericks to win in overtime 113 – 108. Again DeRozan led the team with 34 points followed by LaMarcus Aldridge’s 20 points. Dallas rookie Luka Doncic, who was questionable for the game, led Dallas with 31 points.
