VIA “Poetry on the Move” Contest Now in Its Tenth Year
Annual contest showcases illustrated poems in celebration of National Poetry Month
SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 1, 2018) – VIA Metropolitan Transit’s 10th Annual Poetry on the Move contest is accepting submissions beginning Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 and continuing through Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. The popular contest features elected poems illustrated with designs by area teen art programs. These illustrated poems will be displayed on VIA fleet vehicles during National Poetry Month in April 2019.
“VIA’s poetry contest is a blend of poetic form and visual artistry that fashions a unique form of transit art, at once both moving and on the move,” said VIA President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt. “This event consistently delivers original and thought-provoking works that help create special connections between local artists and the riders we serve.”
The Poetry on the Move contest is open to anyone age 18 and older in Central and South Texas. Submissions must be entered online; paper entries will not be accepted. Entries must be submitted to VIA by Monday, Dec. 3, 2018.
Contestants may each submit up to three poems. Each poem must be no longer than 10 lines, including titles and spaces, free of any offensive language, and understandable by a wide audience. Contest judges, VIA employees, and their families are not eligible to participate.
Poetry submissions will be accepted online online at: bibliotech.librariescreate.com/viapoetry.
