The San Antonio Spurs are 1-2 in their last three games, losing to Miami and Sacramento on the road but winning at home against their IH10 and conference rival Houston Rockets. The loss against the Heat saw LaMarcus Aldridge produce his lowest scoring output this season with 6 points. He grabbed 16 rebounds in the 88 – 95 defeat. The Spurs were unable to establish any inside game as the Heat’s Hassan Whiteside manned the middle and scored 29 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and blocked 9 shots. DeMar DeRozan scored 18 points in the loss. The Spurs bench came up huge scoring 50 points with Patty Mills putting up 20 and Davis Bertans had 19 points. Rudy Gay and Pau Gasol did not play.
The return home was a welcome sight as the team defeated the Rockets in familiar surroundings, 96 – 89 with Aldridge bouncing back and leading the way with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Derrick White returned to the lineup to score 14 points and dishing out 8 assists. DeRozan had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Another trip back on the road saw the Kings end a 14 game losing streak to the Spurs. In a closely fought contest the Spurs could not overcome Sacramento who shot 50% from the field. Rudy Gasol returned to the lineup off the bench scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Hopefully with Gay’s return and White at the point, the Spurs will be able to fill any rebounding woes and produce consistent point guard play.
