A Thanksgiving Message from Our D2 Councilman- William ‘Cruz’ Shaw
As some of you may already know, I served in the Navy for eight years starting in 2003.
Like other people of that age, I decided to join because I had not determined what career to pursue and traveling around the seas seemed like a great way to learn about the world. Needless to say, I got out much more of it than that. Being in the Navy taught me the true meaning of service and love for country; how to function within a team and lead others. I am incredibly proud of having had this experience.
This Thursday, I will get to spend Thanksgiving surrounded by my loved ones. Yet, I cannot help but think of the millions in the military who will be celebrating Thanksgiving away from their home. Keeping this in mind, when it comes time to say grace, I will thank our military men, women and families for the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe. I encourage you to do the same.
Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
Councilman William 'Cruz' Shaw
