VIA’s Service Revisions Effective Jan. 7, 2019
Shorter wait times, new routes for the New Year
SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 20, 2018) — VIA Metropolitan Transit will implement several service adjustments beginning Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 to increase frequency on key routes, reduce wait times, and provide faster connections along the Zarzamora corridor with a new Prímo route.
103 Prímo Zarzamora – New Prímo route will connect Crossroads Park & Ride to Madla Transit Center along Fredericksburg Road and Zarzamora Street.
520 Zarzamora Frequent – Route replaced with new route 103 Prímo Zarzamora. Riders continuing south of Madla Transit Center can use new route672
TAMUSA/Madla Transit Center. Riders continuing to the Medical Center can use the extended route 95 Fredericksburg Road or 100 Prímo Fredericksburg Road.
95 Fredericksburg Road – Routeextended from Crossroads Park & Ride to South Texas Medical Center Transit Center; hours extended until 10 p.m.
672 TAMUSA/Madla Transit Center – New route will connect Madla Transit Center to Palo Alto Community College, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, and Southwest General Hospital.
42 Roosevelt – Route modified to provide service to the TJ Maxx Distribution Center during weekday shift changes.
101 Prímo UTSA/Leon Valley – Route name will change to 501 UTSA/Leon Valley. Additional stops will be added to the route.
The following routes will be improved to operate every 20 minutes, 6 a.m.–6 p.m. on weekdays: 9, 10, 43, and 44.
The following routes will be improved to operate every 15 minutes, from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. on weekdays: 82 and 88.
The following new route pairs will also go into effect: 10-51, 14-44, 22-79, 46-70, and 82-95. The re-pairing will change the routing through downtown for each of these routes and create minor schedule changes.
The following routes will have minor schedule and/or route adjustments: 4, 11, 24, 25, 28, 34, 70, 75, 79, and lineup routes 267 and 277.
New pocket schedules are available at VIAinfo.net. Printed pocket schedules will be available at all VIA information centers and on buses. To see how these service changes may affect your travel, use the online Personal Trip Planner up to 14 days in advance and enter a trip date later than Jan. 7, 2019. For additional information on the service changes, customers may call 210-362-2020. Customers also may conveniently plan trips, and purchase fares and passes with the new VIA goMobile app. Passengers can simply show their phone screen to the operator when boarding. The free app is available on Apple and Android smartphones.
