SPURS BEAT

January 2, 2019

The San Antonio Spurs went 2 – 1 since Christmas beating Denver and the Los Angeles Clippers, but losing to the Nuggets in a back to back.  The Spurs turned back the front running Western Conference leading Nuggets 111 – 103 in a home game last week.  Led by DeMar DeRozan’s 30 points and LaMarcus Aldridge’s 27 points, and strong defense down the stretch, the Spurs held Denver to 39% shooting to improve to 19 – 16.  The Spurs then had to travel to Denver for a rematch in the Mile High city only to come away with a 99 – 102 loss.

Before heading home the team took on the surging Los Angeles Clippers.  The Clippers did not want to be reminded of the bashing they had in San Antonio on December 13th as they succumbed to the Spurs by 38 points in that game.   But with the Spurs shooting 51% and all five starters in double figures, the Spurs continued their mastery over the Clippers coming away with a 122 – 111 victory.  Aldridge had 38 points in the win helping to propel the team to 20 victories against 17 losses.
