Alamo Colleges partnership provides students, faculty, and staff
unlimited access to public transportation options
The new year will kick off with an easy and affordable way to get to class for Alamo Colleges students. The Spring 2019 VIA U-Pass for students, faculty, and staff is now available at ACCD. The U-Pass, designed to provide easy access to the VIA Metropolitan Transit system for college and university systems across the region, offers new travel options to sitting behind the wheel of a car. It offers unlimited trips on regular bus service, anywhere VIA goes. Our Lady of the Lake University was the first college to adopt the U-Pass in the fall of 2018.
The U-Pass will be provided to all Alamo Colleges faculty, staff, and registered students through the school’s partnership with VIA. They need only show their school ID to the bus operator when boarding VIA.
The U-Pass program allows local colleges and universities options to help address the challenges of growing student populations with providing affordable mobility options while helping the organizations with the limited and costly parking space on campus. By encouraging transit ridership, colleges and universities can free up capital funds from building parking lots to investing in student resources.
