SAN ANTONIO – The Claude W. Black Community Center Advisory Board held their annual elections at the Claude W. Black Community Center, Oct. 10, 2019.
Marine Veteran Burrell Parmer, past potentate of Moussa Temple No. 106 (Prince Hall Shriners) was elected as president while Air Force Veteran Tavarus Glover was elected vice president.
Additional officers elected included Army Veteran Vernon Nauls Jr. as secretary, Dori Brown as treasurer, and Ron Black as parliamentarian.

The Claude W. Black Community Center is a staple on San Antonio’s Eastside and offers programs to assist community members in need.
The board, with assistance from the city, community partners, corporate entities, community members and volunteers, hosts two major events, the annual Back-to-School Supplies Jamboree held in August and a Holiday Gift Giveaway in December.
“These activities, along with others events, is the board’s way of accomplishing our mission of enhancing life, one family at a time,” said Parmer, who serves as the public affairs officer for Navy Recruiting District San Antonio. “I want to thank Past Advisory Board President Lawrence Tucker for his many years of service to the board and to the community.”
The advisory board’s mission is to serve as a resource for coordinating community services and fostering partnerships that promote economic self-sufficiency, family strengthening, and enhance the quality of life for children, families and seniors and ensure greater public accountability for the investment of resources.
The advisory board meets on the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the Claude W. Black Community Center.
