The Spurs lost 131-103 in Oklahoma City Monday to close out the 2019-20 Rodeo Road trip. Rudy Gay led all scorers with 14 points while both DeMar DeRozan and Lamarcus Aldridge were held to 11 and 8 points respectively; well below their season averages. The Thunder were paced by Shai Gildeous-Alexander’s 22 points and 13 rebounds. Dejounte Murray; coming off back to back 20 point games including a career high of 25 points in the win against Oklahoma City was held scoreless on 0-7 shooting from the field in the rematch Sunday.
The silver and black went 2-6 in this year’s road excursion losing to the Clippers, Lakers, Trailblazers, Kings, Nuggets, and the Thunder whom they split one of 2 games in Oklahoma. The two lone wins came against Oklahoma City and Utah.
The team looked to make up ground in the Western Conference playoff race going into this year’s road trip. At 24-32 however, the Spurs find themselves in 11th place in the west and dead last in the Southwest Division. With only 26 regular season games remaining and a full four games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, the likelihood of making the playoffs for a league record 23 consecutive years is dwindling with every passing game.
The Spurs return to the AT&T Center Wednesday at 7:30 against Dallas.
